Chingon was formed by film director Robert Rodríguez and Del Castillo to record songs for his 2003 film Once Upon a Time in Mexico. They contributed on Mexico and Mariachis, a compilation album to Rodríguez' Mariachi Trilogy, and released their debut album, Mexican Spaghetti Western, in 2004. The band's name comes from a Mexican slang term, chingón, loosely but closely enough meaning "badass" and/or "awesome".
Chingon also contributed the song "Malagueña Salerosa" to Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 2 — which Rodríguez scored — and a live performance by the band was included on the film's DVD release. They also contributed to the soundtrack for his next film, a collaboration with Tarantino, Grindhouse, doing a cover of the film's opening theme, re-titling it "Cherry's Dance of Death." Rodríguez plays guitar in the band. The band has also made a appearance on "George Buys a Vow", an episode of the US sitcom George Lopez.

Just less than 10 days DEL CASTILLO will play first time in the UK.
Sunday 17th their gig happens at O2 ABC in Glasgow.
Two days later they are live at the BBC Radio Show in Glasgow.
The EU version of their current album (incl. bonus live dvd) is already
released in Germany, Austria & Switzerland. Other European countries will
follow in March.

Radio loves the band.

They will play a live broadcast show in Glasgow exclusively for BBC Scotland on January 19th.

It is not known when it will be put on the livestream.

We are very excited to announce that Del Castillo will be releasing a new CD entitled "Vintage Reserve" just in time for the holidays!! This special, online-only digital download, release will contain songs that have been written over the past ten years but have never made it onto a cd or even been played live! We've kept them in the "wine cellar" for many years but now feel that the time is right to let them be heard! These songs show many different musical sides of Del Castillo so we hope you enjoy them!!
